Still alive and Tri'ing

I haven't posted much. There are just over two weeks until my Vineman 70.3, my first half ironman, and I'm in the middle of a move to a new place. But I did the Breath of Life olympic distance triathlon this past Sunday, with a time of 3:09, my best olympic distance triathlon by 16 minutes. I'm still slow, but I'm getting faster. More on that, and a better picture, soon.

Congrats on your Olympic distance PR, that's awesome! You're going to rock Vineman! :)

Hi Heather,

I was just searching for "first half ironman race" and happily came across your blog :). Congrats on your PR!! When is your half Iron. I'm also going to give the half Iron distance a shot this year on July 13th (Musselman). I've got to be honest and say I'm basically petrified about the swim . . .

Fill me in on your training and stuff! I'll look around your blow to see what I can find.

Heather,

I just realized I really didn't identify myself too well in my post. It's Anita from Rochester (married to Dr. Rich P. from the same). I had lost your blog somehow when you moved, but I'm glad to have found it again - - especially since you are writing about triathlon a lot!

I finished my first half yesterday. I'll admit it didn't make me want to run right out and do an Ironman. But other friends of mine who did it with me were totally jazzed! I bet you'll be in that category. I just have a competitive personality and find it hard to train so hard and then basically be like the slowest in the race . . .ok, not the slowest, but darn close. Especially when I know I trained just as hard as my friends ...and they all beat me!
