It's great food for thought. If you don't know the answer to a question, you can always look it up. But personal interaction can't be replaced.

I have a question for you, why don't doctors make more use of topical anesthetics? I have an intense fear of having blood drawn (I avoid going to the doctor because of this) and I've never been offered anything to make it less uncomfortable. I know this is only tangentially related to your post. Sorry!
