Laffy Taffy is Vegan!

And I loooooove Laffy Taffy! But, I had no idea it was vegan -- I always assumed that it had some type of egg albumin or something to make it so soft and chewy. Not that it's healthy or anything, but it's good to know.

For more things that are "accidentally vegan", check out I Can't Believe It's Vegan.

As I'm moonlighting at the hospital tonight, I'm patronizing my favorite (and unfortunately the only) vegetarian restaurant in town, Skippy's. I had a Sloppy Joe sandwich made with Boca burger crumbles and a really big slice of vegan chocolate cake that my waistline really doesn't need but absolutely hit the spot.

Man, you should be happy that you have any vegetarian restaurant in town. I have never lived anywhere remotely near a vegetarian place.

We love Peanut Chews and Twizzlers for our surprisingly vegan candy. Laffy taffy is good too though.

Does Laffy Taffy have hydrogenated oils in it? I always get kinda bummed when I find out that the treats I enjoyed as a kid are filled with junk. Maybe I'm just too picky. But the fact that they're vegan is great!

That's great to know! I have looked at that page from time to time and always pick up a new item each time I go to remember!

I love Twizzlers too. I have no idea about hydrogenated oils in Laffy Taffy, sorry. Kind of ironic, the premise of my page is to talk about healthy food choices. But every so often, it feels good to have something a bit decadent.

Hate to tell you but on the ingredients listed on laffy taffy, egg albumin is listed fourth. Not vegan.

"Anonymous" -- the small Laffy Taffys are vegan. The large ones have egg albumin in them. You are correct, and so am I.

Um, it's actually not. Look at the larger size LTs - they list "egg of albumin". For some reason, I don't see this listed on the smaller packages.

Oops, just saw those other comments.

You're all right. Recently, they changed the large bars and added egg to them too, and they taste nothing like they used to. You can find them both ways, the ones with egg have it listed right on the bottom left of each individual package, and sorry to say, they SUCK. They should have just left them alone, I can find my own protein, and it really took the bite out of the tangy part. It's a sad, completely different candy now. :-(
