Another Stir Fry

While I was gone last week, I really missed my wok. For this creation, I sauteed some onions in canola oil, adding sliced mushrooms a couple minutes later. While the onions and mushrooms were cooking, I boiled some broccoli florets in water for a few minutes. Then, I added the broccoli to the wok and a Szechuan garlic sauce. When the creation was almost complete, I added some Morningstar Farms Chik'n Strips, and cooked for about two more minutes.

What were the ingredients in the garlic sauce?

It's Starport Foods Garlic Sesame Marinade and Glaze. The ingredients are: Water, high fructose corn syrup, hydrolyzed soy and corn protein ( contains partially hydrogenated cottonseed and soy oil), soy sauce, roasted sesame seed oil, sherry wine, modified food starch, garlic puree, caramel color, sesame seeds, salt, lactic acid, garlic extracts, xanthan gum, disodium inosinate, and disodium guanylate, and sodium benzoate.

Whew, that's a mouthful!

Are they even vegan? A lot of Morningstar Farms stuff has egg and/or dairy in it. Lightlife has "chick" and "beef" style Smart Strips that work for a stir fry, but I prefer to just cut up a packet of tempeh. One day, I might do a stir fry with seitan.

They're stamped "100% Vegan". I'm noticing that Boca and Morningstar Farms are making more products that are vegan.

In my lacto-ovo days, I loved the Morningstar Farms Chik Nuggets. Unfortunately, they're not vegan, and the Boca nuggets are nasty.

Trader Joes has soy nuggets. I haven't had them for a long time, but they're pretty good. I think Whole Foods carries a similar product called Nate's or something. But I'm trying to reduce my consumption of processed foods. I pretty much used the fake stuff to transition to veganism.
