Helping Animals 101
Yesterday, I attended a seminar called Helping Animals 101. We heard about all types of animal cruelty, from circuses to puppy mills to the way our food is raised, and then how best to advocate for the animals.

I'm curious; what is your opinion on animal research? It's constantly in the news here (the U.K.) with protesters made to look like loonies while "real scientists" insist animal research is the only way to create drugs that cure human diseases. But then on the anti-vivisection sites I read that there are better, newer ways to test medicines and treatments and that animal research is flawed.
I am an Interventional Cardiologist practicing in the Los Angeles area. I believe that lifestyle -- including diet and exercise -- are crucial parts of our health and well-being. Here, I share my insights on medicine, ideas and information about vegan diets, and my triathlon training adventures.
The statements and opinions on this blog are mine alone. They do not represent my practice or any other organization. Further, they are not a substitute for care from your own physician.

I believe that animal research is overused, inaccurate, and cruel, and non-animal tests need to be used instead.
I'm with you all the way here, VeganDoc....
It's fantastic that you went and did these proactive activities... truly terrific.
